Hey Lucy! I use many programs, all for a different purpose:
Unreal Engine: Map editor where I put everything together
Maya: For modeling the geometry
Substance/Photoshop/Zbrush: For creating textures
World machine: To make the terrain in the backdrop
and I'm probably forgetting something :)
In the tutorial which I will be releasing soon, I start from the total beginnings, and give the user a crash course in Unreal, Maya and Substance, so they can start making their own little scenes in just a few hours.
